Ban on Holidays

It has been observed that the Deputy Commissioners declare holidays

in the schools on various accounts such as winter/fog etc. 'at their own level in the

capacity of District Magistrate without the consent of the department which

hampers the studies of the students. The circumstances in which holidays are to

be declared is a State level matter and this needs a common decision. The

holidays as observed in few of districts by order of Deputy Commissioners may

cause resentment in public of those districts where holidays are not declared. In

view of the above, it has been decided that prior approval of the Directorate must

be obtained, before the observation of holidays in schools declared by the

respective Deputy Commissioners.These instructions may be strictly
